This site is built as a digital garden. Posts move through a small set of statuses as ideas develop, from first capture through to something more stable and well developed. All the content here is valid, nothing's meant to be perfect; the status just tells you where a piece currently sits in the full workflow. The status buttons all have a number on the right side which indicates how many notes or posts there are with that status. Status is also indicated by color, which you can see in the bullets at the left of each entry in various lists of notes and posts.
Status key
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unprocessed. Almost every thing starts here, and can be developed further. | |
| Actively being developed. This content will be revised, edited and tested. Expect items here to change. | |
| Polished content. The idea has held up over time, is useful or interesting in some way, and could be published. | |
| This one is for the ages. Parked because it's outdated, superseded, or no longer relevant. Still worth keeping for the record rather than removed. |
Methodology
Most things start as signal. This is the starting point, and just means it's raw unprocessed data or a simple thought.
As a note gets revisited, linked to other notes, or actively reworked, it moves to syncing.
Once it's held up over time and revision, it becomes stable. Status changes are manual, there's no automatic promotion based on age or link count. It's a judgment call, made when I happen to revisit something.
Archived is for anything outdated or superseded. Archived items are excluded from navigation, search, and the main notes feed, but they're not deleted, they're parked on the archive page for the record.
If something is not useful or turns out to just not fit in the site, I do reserve the right to delete it permenantly.
